B.V.SUBBARAYAPPA (B.1925) is Honorary Director of the Centre for History and Philosophy of Science at the Indian Institute of World Culture, Bangalore. He was formerly Executive Secretary of the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi; Project Co-ordinator and Member Secretary of the National Commission for the History of Science in India; Director, Discovery of India Project, Nehru Centre, Bombay. 

He is the author and editor of several books on history of science in India and has published over seventy papers on this subject in national and international journals and other publications. He is now the President of the Science Division of the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science, related to UNESCO. He is also an elected Member of the International Academy of History of Science, Paris and recipient of Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bologna, Italy.
